Each edition consisted of several Adobe applications, e.g., or, and that are the industry standard applications for many graphic design positions.The last of the Creative Suite versions, Adobe Creative Suite 6 (CS6), was launched at a release event on April 23, 2012, and released on May 7, 2012. CS6 was the last of the Adobe design tools to be physically shipped as boxed software as future releases and updates would be delivered via download only.On May 6, 2013 Adobe announced that CS6 would be the last version of the Creative Suite, and that future versions of their creative software would only be available via their subscription model. Adobe also announced that it would continue to support CS6 and would provide bug fixes and security updates through the next major upgrades of both Mac and Windows operating systems (as of 2013). The Creative Suite packages were pulled from Adobe's online store in 2013, but were still available on their website until January 2017. Adobe Creative Suite 5 Web Premium software makes it easier to create standards-based websites and immersive digital experiences. With Adobe Dreamweaver CS5 and integrated tools in the Adobe Flash.

It features limited integration with other Adobe apps but has no editing capabilities of its own. is an and a. It allows a wide variety of people within an organization to update web pages. helps preview and test web pages, raster image and digital video content for mobile devices. is an HTML editor geared towards professional web development.

integrates After Effects with Premiere Pro and with Encore, allowing files to be transferred between the two without rerendering. is a specialized app; it converts the output of Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects to a format suitable for DVD and players. Files are automatically transcoded to MPEG-2 or video and Dolby Digital audio. DVD and Blu-ray menus can be created and edited in Adobe Photoshop using layering techniques. is a discontinued raster graphics editor for web designers. It could create interactive contents (e.g. Buttons that change shape when the mouse cursor is hovered on) and animations.

(now as part of Creative Cloud), a multimedia authoring program used to create, films and in the eponymous format. Its features included a called and bi-directional streaming of digital audio and video., an interaction design tool that allowed users to transform Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Fireworks artwork into interactive Adobe Flash projects without writing code. Flash Catalyst was discontinued in 2012 (CS 5.5) and not included in CS 6., formerly Adobe Flex Builder, is an (IDE) built on the platform meant for developing rich Internet applications and cross-platform desktop applications in the Adobe Flash format. is a discontinued HTML editor geared towards professional web development. It was discontinued in favor of Adobe Dreamweaver.

is a illustration and design tool. is a discontinued raster graphics editor for web designers. It was discontinued in favor of Fireworks.

is a application. Adobe Media Encoder is a app made with Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects users in mind.

It produces video files suitable for uploading to (including ) and. is a and monitoring software. is a tool for importing (ingesting), reviewing, and logging tapeless media. is a. A large portion of its features are geared towards editing and retouching digital photographs.

However, it is also capable of editing digital video frames, rendering text, and developing contents for web. is a real-time, timeline-based. Premiere is optimized for working on computers with more than one CPU, graphic cards. It supports the contemporary digital camera and capture card feeds, as well as their file formats, as input. is a discontinued digital audio editor. It had fewer capabilities than Adobe Audition and eventually became a part of Audition. Adobe SpeedGrade is a app that integrates with Adobe Premiere.

is a, production scheduling and reporting app. is a discontinued app; it removes the background of video usually recorded on a blue or green screen and combines it with another video background. Adobe Ultra was only available in the CS3 package.

Adobe Version Cue is a system for maintaining multiple revisions of works among teams.Applications in the Creative Suite family were capable of accessing a service called Adobe Stock Photos before the service was discontinued in 2008. In 2015, after acquiring microstock company, Adobe once again launched a stock photography service called Adobe Stock along with its Creative Cloud service.

The Adobe Creative Suite 2 logoThe first version of Adobe Creative Suite was released in September 2003 and Creative Suite 2 in April 2005. The Adobe Creative Suite 3 logoAdobe Creative Suite 3 (CS3) was announced on March 27, 2007; it introduced for all major programs for the, as well as including all of the core applications from Macromedia Studio and Production Studio.Some Creative Suite programs also began using the used in the.Adobe began selling CS3 applications in six different combinations called 'editions.' Design Standard & Premium and Web Standard & Premium began shipping on April 16, 2007, and Production Premium and Master Collection editions began shipping on July 2, 2007.

The latest released CS3 version was version 3.3, released on June 2, 2008. In this version Fireworks CS3 was included in Design Premium and all editions that had included Acrobat 8 Pro had it replaced with Acrobat 9 Pro. Audition became part of the Creative Suite again in CS5.5 when Soundbooth was discontinued.Creative Suite 4. Adobe Creative Suite 4 logoAdobe Creative Suite 4 (CS4) was announced on September 23, 2008 and officially released on October 15, 2008. All applications in CS4 featured the same user interface, with a new tabbed interface for working with concurrently running Adobe CS4 programs where multiple documents can be opened inside multiple tabs contained in a single window.Adobe CS4 was also developed to perform better under 64-bit. On, Adobe Photoshop CS4 ran natively as a application. Although they were not natively 64-bit applications, Adobe After Effects CS4 and Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 had been optimized for 64-bit computers. However, there were no 64-bit versions of CS4 available for. The Adobe Creative Suite 5 LogoAdobe Creative Suite 5 (CS5) was released on April 30, 2010.

From CS5 onwards, Windows versions of Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 and Adobe After Effects CS5 were 64-bit only and required at least Windows Vista 64-bit or a later 64-bit Windows version. Windows XP Professional x64 Edition was no longer supported. Adobe Version Cue, an application that enabled users to track and manipulate file metadata and automate the process of collaboratively reviewing documents among groups of people, and the Adobe Creative Suite Web Standard edition, previously available in CS4, were dropped from the CS5 line-up. The final version of Adobe CS6 was launched on a release event April 23, 2012, and first shipped May 7. Main article:On May 5, 2013, during the opening keynote of its conference, Adobe announced that it was retiring the 'Creative Suite' branding in favor of 'Creative Cloud', and making all future feature updates to its software (now appended with 'CC' instead of 'CS', e.g. Photoshop CC) available via the Creative Cloud subscription service rather than through the purchasing of perpetual licenses.Customers must pay a subscription fee and if they stop paying, they will lose access to the, which are not with the Creative Suite (Adobe admitted that this is a valid concern ). Individual subscribers must have an Internet connection to download the software and to use the 2 GB of provided storage space (or the additionally purchased 20 GB ), and must validate the license monthly.Adobe's decision to make the subscription service the only sales route for its creative software was met with strong criticism (see ). Several online articles began offering replacements of Photoshop, Illustrator, and other programs, with such as and or competing products such as, and directly offering alternatives.In addition to many of the products formerly part of the Creative Suite (one product, Fireworks, was announced as having reached the end of its development cycle), Creative Cloud also offers subscription-exclusive products such as and- the family, Web-based file and website hosting, fonts, and access to the social media platform.

The new CC versions of their applications, and the full launch of the updated Creative Cloud service, was announced for June 17, 2013. New versions with major feature updates have been released regularly, with a refresh of the file formats occurring in October 2014. Adobe also announced that it would continue to offer bug fixes for the CS6 products so that they will continue to run on the next versions of. Before you install, close all applications currently running on your system;including other Adobe applications, Microsoft Office applications, and browser windows. It is also recommended to temporarily turn off virus protection during the installation process.
You must have administrative privileges or be able to validate as an administrator.
Insert the DVD in your drive, and follow the on-screen instructions. If the installer does not launch automatically, navigate to the Adobe CS4 folder found at the root level on your disk and double-click Setup.exe to start the installation process.
If you downloaded the software from the web, open the folder, navigate to the Adobe CS4 folder, double-click Setup.exe, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
Insert the DVD in your drive, and follow the on-screen instructions. If the installer does not launch automatically, navigate to the application folder found at the root level on your disk and double-click Setup Mac OS to start the installation process.
If you downloaded the software from the web, open the folder, navigate to the application folder, double-click Setup, and then follow the on-screen instructions.

If you are installing as an upgrade, the installer will check your system to find the valid upgrade product. If it cannot find it, it will ask you to input the serial number of the product being upgraded. You can also install the software in trial, then input your new and previous serial numbers in the serialization screen shown during launch.

Known issues

• On Mac after installation, your system performance may seem slower. Rebooting your system after installation will resolve this. (#BG063142)
• If you launch Acrobat 9 as the first application following the installation of Creative Suite 4, you will receive the message, 'You must launch another Creative Suite application.' Launch any other program included with Creative Suite 4 instead.
• Software Setup screen and 'Adobe Acrobat Distiller was unable to install and must quit' error message will be displayed when Acrobat Distiller is launched as the first application after suite installation. Launch any other product included in Creative Suite 4 first to avoid this. (#BG068219)
• On Mac, you cannot install to the root drive. (#BG044824)
• When installing a 32-bit application on Vista 64-bit, an incorrect default installation location appears. The application will be installed in the correct location: c:program files(x86). (#BG064131)
• The 'Total Size' displayed in the installer Options screen includes space required for components required for the installation but not shown in the component list, so the number may not equal the listed components size. (#BG059229)
• The installation may take 20 minutes to over 1 hour depending on the product and the number of components chosen to be installed. (#BG050030)
• Creative Suite 4 cannot be installed to an encrypted folder. (#BG065106)
• Protected Content for Soundbooth will be installed, even if Soundbooth has not been selected for installation. It will appear as though Soundbooth has been installed: application folders will appear in the Start menu on Windows or in the Applications folder on Mac. However, upon attempting to launch Soundbooth, an error message will appear saying 'You can't open the application because it is not support on this architecture.' (#BG063851)
• Restarting your computer is recommended after installing any edition of Creative Suite 4 that contains Acrobat 9 Pro.
• Although you can choose to install an edition of Creative Suite 4 on a secondary partition, the installer still requires up to 6GB of free space available on the primary partition to complete the installation. The amount of free space needed depends on the components chosen to be installed.

Note: In order to install additional components or reinstall your software after your original installation, you will need access to the original installer (CD, DVD or the download from the web). Repair is not an available option.

Before you uninstall, close all applications currently running on your system;including other Adobe applications, Microsoft Office applications, and browser windows.
Do one of the following:
• In Windows XP, open the Windows Control Panel and double-click Add or Remove Programs. Select the product that you want to uninstall, click Change/Remove, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
• In Windows Vista, open the Windows Control Panel and double-click Programs and Features. Select the product that you want to uninstall, click Uninstall/Change, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
• IMPORTANT: Mac OS has new uninstall functionality. DO NOT drag applications to the trash to uninstall them. To safely uninstall on Mac OS X, double-click the uninstall alias located in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers or in the Application folder. Authenticate as an administrator, then follow the on-screen instructions.

Known issues

• The uninstall process will remove any custom folders added to the installed application folders. (#BG69109)
• Please note some files will remain on your system following an uninstall of Creative Suite 4 applications.

If you have installed a trial version of Creative Suite 4 Web Premium, you can enter a serial number to convert it from a trial. It is not necessary to uninstall. You can convert a trial by entering the serial number you received when purchasing Web Premium. Launch any of the Web Premium applications and enter the serial number in the serialization screen.

Other applications installed as part of Web Premium will recognize the new serial number the next time the applications are launched. Only applications running as a trial will recognize the new serial number. If any of the applications have already been serialized with a different serial number, it will continue to use that serial number until you remove the older serial number using the Help > Deactivate > Erase my serial number. Then on the next launch of the application, it will recognize the new serial number.

The serial number you purchased is for the use of the software in a specific language, and will only be accepted by a product installed in that language.

Volume licensing customers cannot purchase a volume license from a trial directly, however a volume licensing serial number can be entered in the trial software without having to uninstall and reinstall. Please contact your reseller or authorized Adobe licensing center to place an order for a volume license. Note: If you want to install a product on a different computer, you should first deactivate the serial number on your computer. To deactivate, choose Help > Deactivate. Deactivation of a serial number will apply to all components activated with that serial number. If you launch a product on the same computer after deactivating, it will activate again.

When you install your software, be sure to register to get up-to-date product information, training, newsletters, and invitations to Adobe events and seminars. If you don't register when you install you can always register later from within any CS4 component by selecting Help > Registration.

The Creative Suite 4 installer installs fonts into a default system font directory. Many of these fonts are newer versions of fonts installed by Creative Suite 3. If the installer finds older versions of these fonts in the default system font directory, it will de-install the older versions, and save them to a new directory. The default system font directory is:

• Apple Macintosh: <System Disk>/Library/Fonts
• Windows: <System Disk>:WindowsFonts

The older fonts will be saved in the new directory:

• Apple Macintosh: <System Disk>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/SavedFonts/current
• Windows: <System Disk>:Program FilesCommon FilesAdobeSavedFontscurrent

This new directory will also contain a file named 'Read Me.html' which lists the saved fonts, and the version numbers of the new and of the old font files.

You can re-install the older fonts by deleting the new font files from the default system font directory, and moving the old files back into that directory.

GB18030 support for Windows XP

• In order to support the display of all characters of the Chinese standard GB18030 on Windows XP systems, Adobe recommends the installation of the Microsoft GB18030 Support Package. This support package will update an XP system with, among other things, fonts and input-method-editors (IMEs) to correctly support GB18030. The support package is available as a download from the Microsoft website. (#BG061690)

Deactivation

• On Windows, deactivation may fail with the error 'Internet not found' even if there is an Internet connection. Go to Internet Options -> Advanced and uncheck 'Check for server certificate revocation' and re-try deactivation. (#BG056982)

Acrobat 9 Pro / Acrobat Distiller

• Software Setup screen and 'Adobe Acrobat Distiller was unable to install and must quit' error message will be displayed when Acrobat Distiller is launched as the first application after suite installation. Launch any other product included in Creative Suite 4 first to avoid this. (#BG068219)
• When launching Acrobat 9 Pro or Acrobat Distiller, an error message may appear 'Licensing for this product has stopped working.' Re-launching Acrobat 9 Pro will correct the problem. (#BG067212)

Search For Help

• Search for Help will launch Internet Explorer even though Firefox has been set as the default browser. (#1677521)

Soundbooth CS4

• Double-clicking to open a saved ASND file in Soundbooth that contains a linked asset will result in the composition/sequence showing as offline. To avoid this, open the ASND file using File > Open instead of double-clicking.

Adobe Drive/Version Cue CS4
