It allows you to set the view distance to whatever you want (it can be infinite if you think your rig has the power to handle it. You can also use it to jack up the resolution to settings not found in vanilla morrowind (including widescreen resolutions) and throw in particle effects and shaders like HDR. The only problem is that even with powerful rigs you have to be careful how much eyecandy you turn on since the optimization is crap and thus trying to max out MGE can bring any rig to its knees.

I found an Italian version of the overhaual on Fileplanet.
