Ursprungligen skrivet av:I dont know I am seeing the same problem you are but I do think it looks far more zoomed in then the screenshots appeared and it more blurry then the screenshots looked. That is disappointing. Its really not crisp at all so I am not sure if I have an issue or if its just this way. I hope its a bug because it sure doesnt look as clean and crisp as the store screenshots. Solution i found for me, hope it works for you.
Lets you run Heroes 3 in windowed mode under any color depth set in screen properties. It can be installed on any Heroes 3 version, including Heroes Chronicles. (c) Bourn and me Darker Interface Colors I never liked the way Heroes 3 interface looks due to player colors not fitting in the interface.
Go to displays in control panel and select%100. Its probably on%150 now. It makes icons and text smaller on desktop but game works perfect!
Hi, long time no see!I just sorted my Games and found Heroes of Might and Magic 2 - Gold Edition. This game is so great. Its unbelievable.Afaik no one attempted a run on this one, so i wanted to ask if there is a general audience for this great game. I think i will try to do it in the next months.
Allthough it will be quite a pain, because you have to do every fight on your own (no autofight afaik) and the planning will be a pain in the ass. Are there some good homm2 players on this forum? If so, i would appreciate help in finding good routes and time savers and glitches and so on.I guess i will do the evil campaign first, i just like the evil classes more than the good ones. And i think Necromancy can make your speedrunning life pretty easy (nearly everyones scared of 1k skeletons). Is it possible to record such an old game? I don't have time to check it out, because its 07:21 and i have to go to the university in 9 minutes.Anyway. If you would like to see a run of this game just post your 'thumbs up' here and i will check it out.Bye. It has this lasting charm and simpleness to it that makes it so fricking awesome. I think as far as speed running is concerned- what would be wrong with doing it ala how Warcraft 3 was done? Do it each stage at a time and either shoot for lowest possible actual time played or lowest amount of days used.
Both seem to be a viable ways of running the game. The evil campaign seems like the ideal choice as ogre and dragon alliance are stupid good. Most of maps and speed running in general would seem to favor using barbs for most if not all starting the city choices. Starting with high attack and more importantly pathfinding will really help cut down on time and or turns spent. To restate- PLEASE DO THIS RUN!! OMG yes please run this game!! I recommend you do the VirajaHomam daily. It is the single most important part of theNavavarana Puja. Viraja homa mantra pdf.

I love Heroes 3, haven't played 2 since I was a kid (once you play 3 you can never go back) but I would definitely appreciate a run of it.Does it have a quick-fight option like 3? That would save the most time obviously. If not, fight out everything yourself, the computer is usually dumb.In Heroes 3 your movement speed on the map is determined by your slowest unit, is that also in 2?
If so stick to mostly flying units.I saw a glitch on YouTube for Heroes 3, if you get into the millions of gold you can cause integer overflow to give your opponents negative gold at the marketplace, which not only makes you richer but also robs the opponent. I guess Heroes 2 would have a similar issue. Obviously not feasible for a speedrun of course.I remember Archibald's campaign has a fork in it.
Make sure you find out which mission is faster.I'm more interested in real time taken rather than days required. Days required will lead to a save-scumming luck manipulation fest, real time will show more brilliant tactics and nervous/quick thinking in the face of adversity.
Also the whole APM thing that makes Starcraft so awesome.Better make sure the game can run and record just fine first, if it needs DOSBox forget about SDA accepting it. Sad, I know.;. Sad, I know.;. Monitor Aero desktop (DWM): Enabling this feature can in some cases allow you to record games you normally wouldn't be able to record due to lack of hardware accelerated graphics. This option only works under Vista (support added in version 2.9.0) and Windows 7 (support added in version 3.0.0) when Aero is enabled. This feature will not work on XP.I use XP, so i can't test that mode. That's really bad. Other programs or anything?Oh, and i don't use DOSBox to play the game. It runs fine on XP.
The problem is that fraps wont record anything in the game.-SDA Knowledge Base: quoteMonitor Aero desktop (DWM): Enabling this feature can in some cases allow you to record games you normally wouldn't be able to record due to lack of hardware accelerated graphics. HoMM 2 is one of my all-time favorite games, and as such, I'd love to see a good speedrun of it. I'd definitely encourage you to try and record a run. Perhaps a level at a time, so the length of each video is kept to a watchable duration.I couldn't really say how you could complete it quickly, as I don't usually think about speedrunning, but I could help you with the strategy. I've beaten Impossible difficulty maps on Impossible difficulty setting before, so I can probably help you with survival at least =P.
One of the elements I love about these kinds of strategy games is that clever thinking can sometimes let you overcome impossible odds. AI abuse is a big part of beating this game with few resources.Obviously for speedrunning, easiest setting will let you go fastest (fewer enemies=shorter battles) but harder settings are of course more impressive. You'll need to research things like the best build order for each map, the best hero to use, the minimal amount of resources you'll need and how to collect them, the fastest route to collect said resources and defeat the opponents, etc.

After googling it i found my own thread on SDA. And totally forgot i ever made this ^^So i read thourh everything here and last time it didn't work because of the recording.
